Intensity

Marina Abramović is a Serbian performance artist who started her career in the early 70s. Her works focus on the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body and the possibilities of the mind.

In 1976, she met the West-German performance artist Ulay (Uwe Laysiepen). They worked together for about 10 years, inventing a new being called The Other, where both Maria and Ulay called themselves parts of a "two-headed body". They even dressed and behaved like twins creating a unique relationship of complete trust.

In 1988, after many years of tense relations, the artists decided to make a spiritual journey which would be a spiritual farewell. They walked the Great Wall of China, starting from two opposite sides and meeting in the middle. And of course, they said goodbye.

In 2010, Maria organized a performance called The Artist is Present, where she sat down on a chair and stared the visitor for one minute. But what Maria wasn't expecting was that her former love Ulay would sit down in front of her.

Really emotional video.
